About Closter's Composting Program

Closter is launching a back yard compost program! The goal of this program is to use collective purchasing power to order composting bins that will allow for easier access to compost bins for residents in Closter. We’d love to hear your thoughts in our 4 question survey!

What Can Be Composted?

In a backyard compost bin, you can compost a wide range of organic materials, including fruit and vegetable scraps, coffee grounds, tea bags, eggshells, yard waste like grass clippings and leaves, as well as shredded paper and cardboard.
